  • Is it true that conquered tribes were adopted into the Iroquois Tribes?

Yes, conquered tribes were adopted into Iroquois tribes.  However, they were only given partial membership to the tribe, which meant they had no say in tribal decisions, and were always seen as second class citizens.  Adopting strays from conquered tribes was not an act of compassion, it was a measure taken to avoid uprising by the captured enemy.
