  • Who is the most important figure in Seneca Indian history?

One of the most important figures in Seneca Indian history is Red Jacket; he was a well spoken master politician who is remembered not only for his talents as a leader, but for his memorable quotes as well. Red Jacket was a great protector of Seneca culture and the official spokesman for the Iroquois League of 6 Nations in their dealings with the American colonists. Our Tribal History page features more information about Red Jacket, along with a few quotes.
